Position Summary We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer with a strong background in technical documentation and a passion for creating clear and accessible documentation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems and a proven ability to create technical content that supports vehicle service, diagnostics, and maintenance.
This role will work closely with the Service Support Team and consult with the Engineering Team to create documentation that supports service technicians as well as internal teams and end users.
Position Responsibilities - Create, update, and manage a range of technical documents, including:
- Service Manuals
- Operator and Maintenance Manuals
- Troubleshooting Procedures
- Removal and Replacement Instructions
- Interpret and incorporate applicable standards - NHTSA, NFPA, OSHA, ASTM, IEC, and SAE - into technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with Product Engineering Departments to develop documents in parallel with product development and release cycles
- Partner with the Service Support Team, Engineering, and Regulatory Compliance teams to generate Technical Service Bulletins and Service Campaigns
Position Qualifications - Experience in technical writing, particularly in automotive, heavy equipment, Electric Vehicle (EV), EV charging, or mechanical system industries is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical experience in automotive, EV, or EV charging systems
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Strong ability to communicate complex mechanical and electrical concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Comfortable working with and interpreting systems involving electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical measurements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with Jira, Salesforce, FrameMaker, and Autodesk Inventor is preferred
Physical Requirements - The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards
- May require duties performed in a warehouse or production setting, including loud noises.
- Work in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
