The University of Notre Dame is more than a workplace. We are a vibrant, mission-driven community where every employee is valued and supported. Rooted in a tradition of excellence and inspired by our Catholic character, Notre Dame is committed to fostering an environment of care that nurtures the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Here, you will find a deep sense of belonging, a culture that prioritizes well-being, and the opportunity to grow your career while being a force for good in the world. Whether contributing to world-class research, shaping the student experience, or supporting the University’s mission in other ways, you will be part of a dedicated team working to make a meaningful impact on campus and beyond. At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you!
At the University of Notre Dame, the digital experience for our students, faculty, and staff is central to our mission of academic and research excellence. ServiceNow powers this experience, orchestrating critical digital workflows and connecting administrative units across campus. The platform's expansive role makes this a high-impact position within the Office of Information Technology’s Enterprise Platforms team.
We seek a ServiceNow Developer to join our team. This isn't just a development role; it's an opportunity to become an integral part of a high-performance, close-knit team that is crucial to the success of the university's most important strategic endeavors over the next three years.
You will be joining a group dedicated not only to technical excellence but also to close collaboration and shared mentorship, working on campus-wide initiatives in areas like:
Asset Management and operational excellence.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).
A major push to transform our Employee Center experience and deliver next-generation self-service through AI and ticket automation.
If you’re ready to apply your specialized knowledge at one of the world's leading Catholic research universities, leading high-visibility projects that directly impact the entire campus community, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
As a ServiceNow Developer, you will be a technical leader on a high-performing team, actively shaping the future of the platform and driving the University's most critical multi-year initiatives. In this role, your focus areas will be:
AI & Automation Leadership
Intelligent Automation: Lead the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions within the platform, specifically focusing on building robust AI skills for HR and ITSM to enhance self-service, automate routine tasks, and drive down ticket volume.
Platform Skill Building: Design and implement intelligent features using native ServiceNow capabilities (such as Virtual Agent, Predictive Intelligence, and NLU/GenAI capabilities) to maximize operational efficiency and the user experience.
Platform Engineering & Delivery
Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Drive the modernization of our enterprise by owning the complete development lifecycle—from analyzing requirements and architecting solutions, to writing clean code, rigorous testing, and final deployment.
Strategic Project Leadership: Lead major new module implementations (GRC, Asset Management, Employee Center) and manage the entire project life cycle, acting as the technical expert from initial concept to service turnover.
Advanced Integration: Design and implement seamless system and data integrations, acting as the expert connecting ServiceNow to the wider campus ecosystem using tools like the Integration Hub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers.
Platform Health & Optimization
System Stewardship: Ensure platform stability, performance, and scalability by owning upgrade management (planning, testing, and validation), administering core platform functions, and continuously innovating techniques for platform optimization and data delivery.
Consultation & Mentorship: Partner extensively with functional users and technical teams across the University to recommend optimal solutions, ensure best practices are adopted, and actively mentor junior staff and team members.
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience that demonstrates the necessary specialized knowledge
ServiceNow Certifications: Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD)
ServiceNow development experience, including working with Integration Hub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers
Software Development and Architecture: Strong experience in software development and system architecture, demonstrated by proficiency in either structured and object-oriented programming principles OR a deep understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and normalization
Experience with data integration concepts and methods, including an understanding of how to architect, develop, and integrate data and applications
Good understanding and use of adopted project management methodologies to establish project parameters and direct work efforts of a project team
Demonstrated ability to provide problem-solving guidance and mentorship on best practices and methodologies to others
Ability to work in the United States, now or in the future, without visa sponsorship
Preferred:
Implementation certifications or hands-on experience with core ServiceNow modules, such as IT Service Management (ITSM) or HR Service Delivery (HR)
Experience working with a large enterprise platform in a complex environment, such as a university or public sector organization.
Application Instructions: Please include a cover letter with your application for full consideration.
Application Deadline to Apply (subject to change): 11/9/25
