Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our growing Electrical Engineering team. In this role, you will
lead and coordinate the work of a small engineering team while developing advanced power conversion systems for hybrid power solutions, including clean-sheet designs for inverters, converters, and motor control systems. You will play a key role in supporting power electronics integration for next-generation generator sets, hybrid powertrains, and electrified propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities - Lead clean-sheet design and development of AC/DC and DC/DC power converters, including bidirectional inverters and battery chargers.
- Perform magnetics and filter design, system-level integration, and EMI hardening for military-grade systems.
- Design and implement high-speed switching power electronics with 4-quadrant motor control and precise AC-DC regulation.
- Conduct EMI/EMC testing, troubleshooting, and compliance verification to DoD and MIL-STD requirements.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to deliver compact, efficient, and ruggedized power solutions.
- Document designs and results using Microsoft Office tools and contribute to technical reports and presentations.
- Interface with vendors, customers, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Bidirectional inverters, DC/DC converter topologies, and magnetics/filter design
- EMI hardening and compliance testing for defense applications
- High-speed switching and motor control (4-quadrant)
- Familiarity with AC-DC regulation principles and practical circuit implementation.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be a U.S. Person.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with weight- and efficiency-critical designs (e.g., aerospace, defense, UAVs).
- Background in hybrid power systems, gensets, and MIL-STD compliant systems (e.g., AMMPS).
- Knowledge of CANBUS/MODBUS communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience with PCB layout and design tools such as EAGLE or Altium.
- Firmware development experience (C/C++ preferred).
- Project management skills with experience coordinating across teams and with external stakeholders.
