Description
The Galley Utility is responsible for the storing, handling, transporting and cleaning of food, food service equipment, utensils and dish wash areas of the Galley in compliance with the Company’s Public Health Standards. A key role with “The Heart of House”, this role ensures that all aspects of the F&B team are equipped for success during service for all guests onboard.

Ensures all Galley areas are maintained in a clean and safe work environment; Ensures the dishwashing areas are cleaned and ready for the culinary team. This includes pre-rinse, pre-soak, rinse, wash, and sanitize each type of plate, silverware, pot, pans, utensil, galley equipment and glassware. Takes a proactive approach in ensuring all areas are fully stocked with clean and organized equipment par levels; Ensures correct procedures with Galley sanitation, which includes cleaning the Galley after every meal. Assist in maintaining proper food handling and storage procedures in accordance with USPH and company policies; Assists with inventory and the movement of provisions; loading duties as required; Participate in actual cooking, preparation, or plate-up of food items as a member of the Galley team as required; Responsible for all cleaning materials and correct storage of all Galley equipment; Handle and transport and other supplies to other venues when requested; Follows proper procedures when disposing of garbage and demonstrates cost and quality awareness and strives to reduce breakage and wastage; Responds to issues or problems quickly and efficiently involving relevant people as required and reports any challenges, complaints or service difficulties to immediate supervisor; Qualifications
Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract and appropriate to position; Minimum one (1) year of experience in general Galley utility; Knowledge and experience in Public Health Standards related to USPH and HACCP; Knowledge of storeroom operation and procedures, as well as the handling of perishable goods; Good time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines;
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.;
