THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to safely and efficiently advance capital and secondary development waste at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Experienced Miner must be able to perform all mining tasks: drilling, blasting, bolting, scaling, mucking, map reading, drift on line and grade, and advance utilities.

Rates start at $33.75 to $44.00 per hour, depending on experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Marking the face with the appropriate drill pattern
• Drilling holes parallel and on correct angles
• Cleaning, scratching, and marking holes
• Shovel lifters when the heading is complete
• Comply with MSHA & ATF explosives regulations and requirements
• Proper handling and loading of explosives
• Minimizing explosive waste
• Detonation of explosives (licensed blasters)
• Accurately complete blast report as per regulations
• Hand scaling
• Ensures all hoses and other auxiliary services are neatly stored
• Maintains hauling efficiency by managing working environment conditions
• Maintains proper housekeeping and tidiness
• Follows correct loading and dumping procedures
• Inspects and assesses site conditions to determine scaling and bolting requirements
• Erects barricades to prevent unauthorized access if necessary
• Wetting down headings for dust suppression
• Ensures services (air, water) are advanced
• Installs appropriate bolts and screen to specified pattern and spacing
• Step-Up Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrates the ability to perform Supervisor duties
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of underground hard rock mining
• Rapid development experience desired
• Experience in mine specific equipment
• Excels in Jumbo and ground support activities
• Sound understanding of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
• Blasting License
• Must have foreman’s license
