Job Description
Summary An instructional assistant is an individual who assists a lead teacher in helping ensure that each and every one of our students is prepared for life's possibilities. The caregiver must have a passion for serving all kids. The caregiver must be willing to take directives from a supervising teacher and/or building administrator. The caregiver will be asked to engage in a wide variety of events during the day-to-day workings of the school ranging from, but not limited to assisting students as they: get off / on the school bus or in/out of their parent's vehicle, eat their snack, learn self-care routines (bathroom, hygiene, etc.), move from one location to another in the classroom and/or building, and engage in classroom activities. The caregiver will also be asked to assist in diapering, cleaning, and sanitization routines in order to comply with the regulations of a Licensed Childcare Facility.
The hours are from 9:00am-5:30pm.
Full-time- 40 hours per week.

Duties - Provide care to meet children's basic needs as well as supporting learning experiences
- Work on an in-depth basis with individual or small groups of students to execute lesson plans
- Wipe down / sanitize equipment or materials prior to and after a student uses the item(s).
- Assist children during classroom activities, snack, personal hygiene, toileting, and other school activities.
- Assist children with developing independence and self-help skills.
- Set up areas, and prepare motivational and visually appealing materials as directed by the
- teacher.
- Maintain constant supervision of students assigned to him/her and assure student safety throughout the instructional day.
- Communicate with families in a positive manner
- Utilizes WELCs communication tool to document child-specific information
- Maintain student confidentiality for all students enrolled in the school.
- Provide support and ongoing communication with the supervising teacher.
- Complete required training, including annual first aid/CPR, health and safety, and others as deemed necessary for the position.
- Comply with the regulations of an Indiana State Licensed Childcare Center.
- Make positive contributions to the culture and climate of the FTCSC.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements - A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must complete pre-employment requirements for a licensed childcare center: drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprint background check.
- The ability to meet the physical demands of stooping, kneeling, sitting in low/small chairs, and transferring/lifting a child.
- Ability to actively engage students in lessons and discussions.
- The stamina to maintain an appropriate energy level to sustain the full instructional day.
- Good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
- Sufficient patience and commitment to ensure academic success for all students.
- Flexibility in work day schedule.
Nice To Haves No experience is needed but must have a passion for working with younger children.
Benefits 40 hours per week, health insurance eligible position. Paid time off days are available after the probationary period.
