Full Time| Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM| 100% onsite| $28.59 Hourly| Weekly Earned Wage Access is an option for this position. Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Biomedical Engineering Technician 1 assembles, maintains, and repairs medical equipment. You will report to the Manager.
Primary Tasks: - Perform routine maintenance checks on biomedical equipment through testing, calibrating, troubleshooting by taking corrective measures to ensure system functions.
- Install new incoming biomedical equipment by adjusting devices in reference to medical specifications and train staff members to operate and care for the equipment with physical demonstrations and educational presentations.
- Order components for failed medical devices, verify deliveries on new, leased, and loaned medical devices and oversee third-party repairs.
- Repair faulty machinery by priority and schedule equipment inspections.
- Responsible for updating inventory including out of service equipment, new incoming equipment, spare parts, and preventative maintenance kits.
- Ensure that all equipment meets company standards of safety and quality with reference to the Joint Commission (TJC), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), College of American Pathologists (CAP) and any other applicable standards and regulations.
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience: - Associate degree in electronics, biomedical engineering or related field
- Valid Driver's License
- Willing to attain Certifications in CABT and CBET.
- Knowledge of accepted practices of Biomed Engineering and medical equipment management.
- Six [6] months experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment
- Three [3] years related experience
Responsibilities 1. Perform and documents preventative maintenance and follow up corrective activities inspections on assigned equipment to include physical, functional, calibration, and electrical safety checks. Perform incoming inspections of all medical equipment items entering the system including new, leased, loaned, rented, physician or patient owned.2. Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunction. Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failure.3. Schedule equipment inspections, use errors, no problems found, cannot locate equipment, recalls/hazard alerts, and alarm work orders.4. Schedule and oversee third-party repair.5. Schedule formal in-service training programs, coordinates and attends vendor training, and provides follow up training to team.6. Identify customer needs and allocate resources to hospitals to ensure smooth daily operations. Serve as a technical advisor to the clinical staff for the safe operation and proper use of medical equipment.7. Order repair parts and ensuring levels of spare parts for medical equipment service.8. Understand and comply with The Joint Commission (TJC), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), College of American Pathologists (CAP) and any other applicable standards and regulations. 9. Perform other tasks as assigned.
